Back in Burundi
Debbie and I arrived safely on Friday and were welcomed by two of our faithful team members, Obed and Claudine. It felt good to back on the ground in Burundi. Rainy season welcomed us as well with a brief shower and overcast skies. As we traveled to the mission compound the evidence of the flooding from last spring could still be seen. We have settled in and have had a busy first few days. It was a blessing to attend the Deaf Church on Sunday. Many of the former students from Ephphatha attend the fellowship and it was good to be reconnected with them. Several of them are working in different sewing associations using the skills they learned while in the sewing program at Ephphatha.
Monday was a training day for the team. We were all learning how to use digital record keeping to make reporting and accountability more efficient. It is a work in progress but will be a positive tool for all of us! The team did a follow up seminar from our summer leadership retreat “ Lead Like Jesus”. I was blessed to hear and see how the team is working together to resolve challeneges and to support and encourage one another. of course team meals are always a time of fun and fellowship.
The highlight of the weekend was getting to spend time with the Mason family and their new son Jimmy! We visited them at their hotel, enjoyed a meal and had a swim! We are so thankful to have been with them through the process of adopting Jimmy.
Thank you for ongoing prayers as we head to the schools and teaching women’s seminars this week!
God bless!
